The EMS industry has come a long way in developing operational benchmarks and standards; the time has now come to benchmark quality from the patient’s perspective. The EMS Quality Monitor, a PRC Patient Perception Study, provides the new standard in measuring this critical area.
As a new partner in the EMS industry, PRC gives your agency the accurate and scientific information needed to improve your services. We know what questions to ask – just as your personnel are trained to quickly understand each patient’s needs, we, too, know the key questions and how to prioritize which areas to focus on to improve patients’ care.

Targeting Important Issues
The EMS Quality Monitor helps you to evaluate clinical and operational performance from the patient’s perspective. Our ongoing measurement system lets you discover problems sooner, make changes more proactively, and spend less time putting out fires. We help you target the important issues by using a research instrument tailored specifically for your organization. We provide core benchmark questions and the opportunity to customize for your needs.
Results with Confidence
The primary advantage of PRC’s high participation telephone methodology is that it allows us to achieve a true random patient sample and thus, scientifically valid results. We consistently have participation rates over 80% for hospital ER patients throughout the country. Our high participation rates ensure a sample that is accurately representative of your patient population, not just those few who choose to send back a mail survey. Other methods allow patients to select out of participation and are, therefore, not representative or accurate.
National EMS Database
Knowing where you benchmark on a national scale helps to put your strengths and weaknesses into perspective. Each year, PRC compiles results to provide a baseline against which you can compare your market area’s results. It’s all a part of the big picture and we’re here to help you put it all into focus.
Key Drivers of Excellence®
To prioritize the one or two things that will have the most impact, we provide you with Key Drivers of Excellence® – those areas identified specifically for your organization – that show you what is most important to your patients and what most impacts their perceptions of overall quality of care.
